offline vs. online journal

Uncategorized

Since I’ve created these Uberman cards, I’m finding that I’m keeping very accurate and up-to-date notes, but I’m not really bothering to post my progress online. It’s just a matter of data transfer… I should commit to doing that at least once or twice a week. The cards are great for keeping track of events as they happen (so I feel more confident about time data, etc), but I’m finding that it doesn’t encourage me […]

Shopping Spree

Uncategorized

I’ve been doing a LOT of online shopping these past couple of weeks. So much so that I have a little note in outlook listing all the stores I’m expecting something from so I can keep track. In all fairness, most of them are electronic component retailers… Buying components online makes a lot of sense because there aren’t too many places locally that will stock ALL the different, weird parts one might need… From the […]

Obsession

Uncategorized

Here’s something “cute” I threw together in a spare 20 minutes in Illustrator… all icons were done by yours truly by hand (I’m especially proud of the little drumstick). this is for making Uberman easier to track… modifications will come as needed. (It looks much better in the PDF than it does on this JPG). Download file (PDF) It’s sized down to fit on a 3×5 index card for maximum portability! Yum. Here’s a link […]

Uberman Day 4

122602 0100-0600 Nap: Slept well (although overslept by an hour… then dad and I went Lowe’s) 1300 Food: So many flautas, chile con queso, and quacamole… I’m going to burst! 1345 Nap: Again, good nap! Not sure if it’s the sleep machine or just vacation mode…

Syndicated Comments

Uncategorized

Adina is working on syndicated comments done correctly, for a change (so you could get an RDF feed from individual threads of conversation rather than ALL comments from a particular site). This would allow me, for example, to keep track of all the places I’ve dropped a comment. I could subscribe to each individual comment stream and look out for replies, etc. I could also syndicate all these feeds on my blog so that my […]

What I got in my Christmas stocking!

Uncategorized

This was a good year for the Christmas bounty. Not that presents are what it’s all about, but c’mon! It is a nice bonus! Some highlights:Mom gave her now traditional pajama bottoms to my brothers and me… this time they are ohhhh so soft, warm, and comfy. I got a sleep/dream machine (one of these alarm clocks that plays sounds of the forest of bubbling brooks). I used it for my naps yesterday, and I’m […]

LOTR

Uncategorized

Saw LOTR, yesterday, with my brothers.Except for a bunch of dorky college students sitting behind me making sadly unfunny commentary throughout the previews and first half hour of the movie (until I finally looked back at one of them directly in the eye), I really enjoyed it, probably more so than Fellowship. Not surprising, though, as there was more opportunity for cinematic action and special effects off of this book. A couple of random comments: […]

Weekend and Toy Joy Irritation.

Uncategorized

I was at a Wedding in Houston over the weekend (very impressively geeky: Star Trek music during the ceremony, 12:21 PM on 12/21 in 2002 (all palindromes), inserts in the program with wonderful details about various traditions). I sort of knew the bride from Rice days, but I was there more as a date of one of her friends. I met up with Mike and Alex over a couple of beers at Chuy’s and we […]
