SxSW: 10:00AM Panels

I started at the “How the Internet Connects” panel which had the Meetup, Livejournal, and Hotornot founders.

I had high hopes, but was a little disappointed. They didn’t seem all that prepared actually… They each gave their little stories of how they started their sites. Then, only 15 minutes into the panel, after a small awkward lull James said, “Let’s turn this into more of a discussion” and they started taking questions.

I realized I needed to walk out when my blood started to boil because I realized I was listening to three guys pontificating on the “upcoming trends for internet community” and weren’t saying anything particularly new or even coherent.

Sorry guys, I love your work (esp. Meetup), but you need to prepare a little more, ok? Do some research, please, and give us solid information.
